Adult Therapist and Child Therapist San Diego
Providing Anxiety Treatment, Grief Counseling, and Art Therapy in San Diego North County.
Adult and Child Anxiety Therapy in San Marcos, CA.
You worry about lots of things.
The thread of worry runs through your family.
I'm Tami and I help elementary school-aged kids and parents learn how to manage anxiety.
You wake up in the morning, and you’re on high alert.
You feel the pressure of parenthood. You pick up your phone and start scrolling. You read some news adding to your feelings of overwhelm. These feelings are nothing new.
You remember what it was like when you were a child.
All the things you feared. The world has never felt like a safe place. Now, with children, you have a new set of concerns swirling around in your head.
One of your children is worrying about lots of things too, and you're wondering if they need therapy. One more thing that weighs on you.
Now you’re searching for a therapist in San Marcos, CA, and it feels daunting.
You have some names from friends, but every time you plan to make some calls, you put it off. You feel so nervous about the thought of even talking to a therapist over the phone.
You're worried a therapist will judge you. Judge your parenting or worse, blame you. It's not your fault if you or your child is struggling with anxiety.
If you're seeing familiar patterns developing in your child, you may have a reason to feel the way you do. It's understandable and common to feel nervous about reaching out about therapy.
I can help you deal with the anxiety, and get to a place where your family feels more at ease.
With guidance and support, feeling calmer and more at peace is possible.
I teach coping tools, provide education, and offer Art Therapy and traditional talk therapy interventions. For children, art therapy involves doing something that feels very natural for them.
For adults, art therapy often feels outside their comfort zone. I get that, but I also know that art therapy can have a powerful effect on adults who spend too much time overthinking things, which leads to worry and feelings of anxiety.
Clients report feeling more empowered when they learn how to calm themselves. Parents notice their kids learning how to calm themselves. They can understand the "thing" they avoid may feel scary, but they will be okay. They can do that "thing".

What People Say About Working with Tami Earnhart Providing Therapy in San Marcos, CA
Reviews and testimonials in therapy are a tricky thing. Every situation is so incredibly different. And, for many, therapy is a very private experience. For that reason, I never ask for or solicit public reviews from clients. However, I do regularly track my outcomes to ensure that my clients are progressing and reaching their goals. Whether that looks like fewer meltdowns at school, easier relationships with parents, or being able to make friends- every therapy interaction is unique and focused on the needs of my client and their family. Below, you’ll find public reviews from colleagues and clients.

I've had the pleasure of meeting Tami through another colleague and immediately got a sense of her calm and nurturing tone and presence. Her unique approach as an Art Therapist gives children and adults a means of expressing and healing that words alone can't always do. With her own experience as a parent, Tami is a great support to others who may feel they're struggling in this role at times as well. I have no hesitation referring to Tami for therapy. It's hard to quantify in "stars" what Tami did for our kids. Our divorce was what you would call "high conflict" and our kids were witnesses to several highly charged situations. I could not be more thankful for Tami helping our children process their emotions during this time and being a safe space to share their feelings. Most important, she fostered positive feelings in the children towards counseling. Recently, our son returned to counseling and it wasn't forced. Because of the foundation Tami had built, he was comfortable, and TRUSTING of his new counselor.

The truth is, the best advice in finding a therapist is to get really clear on what you need. That can be hard to know when you don’t know what you don’t know. Here, I work with adults and kids who feel anxious, out of sorts, sad, and unsure of themselves. My clients like that I am gentle, that there are ways to get support that go beyond talk therapy, and that we integrate art into our work. When they graduate from therapy, they leave with skills and habits (including doing art at home) that allow them to have support that will be with them for decades after therapy has finished up.
